Whether is it possible to create delivery, picking, shipment with general item category group DIEN.

If yes how can we do this?

Hi Jenibalet,

DIEN is basically a Item Category Group which is used for Service w/ Delivery. When we use this Item category group system will determine the Item category TAX and Tax represents a Item category which will be for a Non - stock item. when a item is non stock, you won't be bale to create a delivery, when no delivery you cannot do any activities related to Shipment.

This is not possible using Standard settings. you can as well configure / change settings in such a way that system will determine another Item category (as Item category gets determined based on Sales doc type+ Item category + useage + higher level item category).

HI Jenibalet,

Actually Material Type - DIEN - Service.

Service Items(DIEN) will not have any delivery.

If it is a Special Service Item( Technical Object Eg:- Equiqment) which will be created using

the Material Types like FERT,HAWA,HALB, for this we can create the Delivery.

General item category group:-

Materials grouping that helps the system to determine item categories during sales document processing.

If a group is configured specific to distribution channel, it has priority if the corresponding activity is distribution channel-dependent.

Procedure

The system automatically suggests an item type in the document depending on the item category group you assign and the sales document type you are processing.

Example

In the standard system, there are normal items, items that signify services (and therefore need no delivery processing) and items that signify packing material, for example.

For General Item Categroup DIEN - you can not create Delivery,Picking and Shipment.

The item category group DIEN is defined for a service for which delivery is not relevant. As per the standard definition you`re not suppossed to use the item cat. group DIEN for delivery and other processes. If you would still want to....you can play around....( only for learning purpose ). I would strongly suggest you to look for a different item category group for delivery.
