Hi,

ESA can be considered as SAP's terminology for SOA. But it incorporates complex business logic.

Any RFC enabled function module can be exposed as webservice in SAP.

And when it is a BAPI that can be used to create a sales order or to post GL document, we have multiple tasks to be performed and multiple database tables to be updated.

So, when we expose a BAPI like this, we are exposing a compelete business functionality and this is called an Enterprise Service.

These can be consumed using any web service client . you can use XI as well.

Using Transaction WSADMIN, you can see the services exposed in your sap system.
