Hi
IDX1 transaction is used to Create the port to get Idoc Metadata from Sender System ( The Port Name must match the port name in the idoc header - Usually in format SAP<System ID>. eg. SAPID1.
Could you please tell me all IDOC headers will contain the port number ?? If they won't contain then in which format the idx1 portnumber should be specified ??
thanks
kumar
Hey
IDX1 is used to create Port number for the outbound IDOC.
it stores the port number for R/3 so that when IDOC's are send from XI to R/3,it looks at the port number and goes to the correct port in R/3
and yes,all IDOC's header contain port number
thanx

Hi ahmed,
Thanks for your reply! Your answer raised one more doubt. suppose just take a scenario like idoc(r/3)-xi-file. So whether the idoc header contains the port number of r/3 system which was created using transaction sm59 ??
So if it is the case it is like that the prot number of r/3 that was created using sm59 and protnumber of xi that is created using idx1 should be always same ??
thanks

why will it take the prot number of R/3?it takes the port number of XI here.see when ur sending something u give the address of the receipient, not the address of sender.
so for IDOC to File,it will contain info about XI and for File to IDOC it will contain info about R/3
>>prot number of r/3 that was created using sm59
SM59 is not prot number, its used for RFC destination,on R/3 side it has RFC dest. for XI and on XI side it has RFC dest. for R/3
port on R/3 side is created by using t-code WE21 and it contains port pointing towards XI not for R/3

oops !! thinking sth else and put sth else. Yes we21 is used to create port creation.
I have seen in the below link that
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/3b/beb13b00ae793be10000000a11402f/content.htm
Port name: For SAP systems this comprises the type and ID of the connected system, for example, SAPABC.
Is it mandatory to give like that or it is just a recommendation ?? if I wont give like that whether scenario works or not ?? Because port number can be given upto 10 digits ??
thanks
kumar
