Hello all,
I am new to SAP, so please bear with me.
I have a ABAPJAVA test system, with the central instance and a dialog instance installed in the domain and the central service instance installed as a local installation. Before, all three instances were running perfectly. There has been some DNS problems in the network lately, and after I have corrected them, the dispwork process of the central and the dialog instances stop running (even as the central service instance still runs). Hello Charles,
Looks like network issue.
Check the host files on all the instances.Check if the IP details/hostname are correctly mentioned. Also check if the database is up and running.

hmm.. where are the host files and the IP details of the instances located? (sorry I am a student, and a SAP newbie)

Check parameter dbms/type in the default profile or in the enviromental variables... the value should depend on the DB your using, ORA for oracle, MSS for MSSQL, DB2, DB6, etc...
Also check that the kernel installed is for the right Database

This is the problem.Did u changed any password <SID>ADM before
Soln :
use brtools to change the password of SAPUSER.<SID>ADM

yes, I've changed those passwords before... I've looked at my oradbusr.log file and I found out that OPS$<domain_name>\<SID>ADM and OPS$<domain_name>\SAPSERVICE<SID> already exist. Do I log in the the dbase with these users to change it? Or will the brtools suffice?

I have successfully changed the password. Thanks! But now, it is telling me that I cannot login with SAPR3:

I have tried to use brtools again, a la:
brconnect -u system/<syspasswd> -f chpass -o SAPR3 -p <password>
and it comes up with the messages:
BR08024E: Owner 'SAPR3' not found in database or not SAP owner
BR0182E: Checking parameter/option 'chpass_owner/-o' failed
Do I have to directly insert a SAPR3 owner to OPS$<sid>ADM".SAPUSER?

Hi
Please explain me what you did to troubleshoot the DNS Problem. How the DNS Probelm arise ? Did you do any other other troubleshooting in last week ?
Did you remember when you start the SAP instances lately ?
Pleaes do the following task on commond prompt on Domain Server & SAP Server..
1) try to ping the IP addresses and hostname including the DNS server from the both server
2) Did you update any policy on the OS & server ?
3) If your problem are solved by the above steps please update the latest kernel to resolved your problem.

Looks like the user SAPR3 has not been created..
Can anyone tell me where to get the script to create the SAPR3 user in the oradbusr.sql? Or how to do it manually in sql? Much appreciated!
