Hey,
I try to understand the mentioned standard functions.
FixValue is simple to understand, but what about ValueMapping?
I designed ValueMapping in directory and use it sucessfully in repository.
But the difference to function FixValue would only be in reuseability of
the created mapping table. Is that all?
I don't understand the party concept. In documentation is an example with
different views on a person called <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/13/ba20dd7beb14438bc7b04b5b6ca300/frameset.htm">Mr.Smith</a>, but can anyone give me an example
where it makes sense to use it?
thanks
chris
The main differences between FixValue and ValueMappings are:
1 - values for FixValue are maintained in the Repository, inside your message mapping, while for ValueMapping the values are maintained in the Directory.
2 - values for ValueMapping can not only be maintained manually, but can also be maintained using a special interface (see http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/2a/9d2891cc976549a9ad9f81e9b8db25/content.htm)
Therefore, for data that changes regularly, the use of ValueMapping is more appropriate. For conversion data that is static you can use FixValues.
Kind regards,
Koen

Hi,
The basic difference is that the FixValues, the key-values are maintained in the Integration Respoitory.
In the case of value mapping the Key is along provded in the mapping in the IR and the value is maintained in the Directory.
This way , making changes becoemes easy as you move across environments.
