Hi
We are on 4.6C, HP UX11, Oracle 8.1
We have a situation, where our production system VARI table got over written with wrong varibales due to wrong transport. Our management has decided to restore the VARI table from backup.
My questions are,
1. Is there anyother way to get the old values in VARI table before the changes without restoring from backup?
2. What are the stuffs that we need to take care before and after restoring the VARI table from backup?
3. Do we have to do any consistency check after restoring the VARI table from backup?
4. Does VARI table has any link table? or will it be enough to restore the VARI table alone to recover our loss.
5. which restoration method is recommended and standard way for single table restoration?
regards,
Vinodh.
oh boy...
1. stop your SAP system right now to avoid corruption
2. restore SAP system to another machine
3. export VARI from other machine
4. import VARI to real machine
5. cross your fingers and start SAP
if this does not work, restore SAP system on real machine and do a recovery point-in-time up to 1 minute before the transport was imported... obviously, you will lose all modifications made after this point.
