Linux Distribution not met

Former Member

hi,

we are installing SAP ECC 6.0 on linux/maxdb platform in Intel EM64 HW. We encountered "Condition not met" message: Supported Linux distribution on AMD64 and Intel EM64 are SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 for AMD64 and Intel EM64 (SLES9) and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 (RHEL4). Current distribution: Unknown distribution: etc/redhat-release:Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES release 4 (Nahant Update 4).

Am i missing something here? is RHEL4 and RHEL ES release 4 is different? or perhaps the update is wrong?? Pls advice on how to resolve this.

Regards,

JDR

hi,

thanks for the reply. My sapinst version is 7.0 so no need to patch. About the prerequisite checker, ist it different from sapinst patch?

thanks,

JDR

Dear JDR,

the prerequisite checker does only change the checks with are performed. There was a bug, which does not recognise the Red Hat version. The attachment to SAP Note <a href="https://websmp230.sap-ag.de/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/sapnotes/index2.htm?numm=855498">855498</a> will fix exactly your problem. You do not need to patch sapinst, only the prerequisite checker file.

Thanks

Dear JDR,

I checked the source code of PREREQUISITE_CHECK_DATA.XML and found out, that it only checks for

"Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES release 4"

but not for your case, which is

"Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES release 4 (Nahant Update 4)"

which is already certified, according to SAP note <a href="https://websmp230.sap-ag.de/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/sapnotes/index2.htm?numm=171356">171356</a>.

Furthermore, SAP Note <a href="https://websmp230.sap-ag.de/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/sapnotes/index2.htm?numm=722273">722273</a> uses AS and ES as synonyms.

If you feel really unconfortable ignoring this particular prerequisite checker you may have to open a OSS call and ask for assistance. This might take at least one week until there will be a fix available. You can of course ignore this particular error message, because RHEL4 is certified and the error you get is only a bug.

-> did you check SAPNotes N° 916.649, 171.356, 722.273 & 816.097?

-> did you patch sapinst before starting the installation?

Dear JDR,

please update your "Installation Prerequisite Checker" file according to SAP Note <a href="https://websmp230.sap-ag.de/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/sapnotes/index2.htm?numm=855498">855498</a>.

This will solve your problem.

Thanks,

Hannes
