Dear All,
Require your guidance in order to resolve this issue.
Overview of the issue:
Scenario 1) When I scheduled the CTM run with 145000 Product / location combinations the run failed with the log stating "Planning Engine: Upload master data"(error occured while uploading model data).
A thorough investigation revealed that the materials were extended to more locations. The actual product / location combinations should be around 71000
Scenario 2) The whole master data was overhauled to 71000 and again the CTM run was scheduled. This time the CTM run gave positive results.
Question:Does the planning engine has relevance with the quantitative results which when exceeds the certain range ( product / location combinations) abends the job?
Hi Pramod,
145k product locations is not a very big number for the CTM run. Large number of product location will basically lead to increase in the run time of the engine. It can be some live cahe memory/database size issues or the optimizer issues here which led to the failure which can be resized based on the standard templates provided by SAP.
But in case you wish to split the model, pls use Master Data Selection Profile to selective choose the product locations but then the solution will be a sub-optimal solution.

HI Pramod.
I have had the situation where the number of product locations has in effect taken CTM out when it passes master data to the engine through the RFC connection.
In this case there were two options:
1. Find a way to sensibly split up the supply chain model data and run them sequentially in separate CTM profiles.
2. There is a BADI that can be used on data selection. We actually used this to filter only datathat was relevant to planning at that point in time and it kept it well below the threshold where the Master Data loading fell over.
Cheers, M
