NWA: Restart of a server process requires a specific user

Hi all,

we use SAP Netweaver AS Java 2004s 7.0 (Java Stack only).

Since the installation of SPS10 (prior we had SPS8) restarting a Java server node

by means of the web interface NWA (netweaver administration) requires a OS user

and a OS password.

What is meant by OS user.? I interpreted it with an Operation System user and tried with <SID>adm user but it doesn't work

Any help is really appreciated

Regards Karin

Hi Karin

You can stop and start any instance using NWA by just giving sidadm and its passoword when it asks for OS credentials .I have just now did the same.May be check if the password of sidadm is correct.also sidadm should be in lowercase.

Also check if NWA user has got all the rights.

Reward points if usefull.

Hi Prashil,

it is a local system.

The user exists on the operating system level.

The user does not exist on the portal (UME)

I do not understand what you mean with "just check whether that user has the administrator rights or not.".

Where should this rights be checked or where should this rights be available?

You can try j2ee_admin for this purpose. Just check the rights of j2ee_admin user in ABAP stack at su 01 and roles tab

Hi Karin,

To assign rights to a user you can use this path:

Control Panel -> Computer Management -> User -> Member of

Here you can add the Administrator role to the user.

I would suggest you assign the administrator rights to all the SAP based user.

Also i suggest to try you windows logon username and password.

Hope this works!!!

Hi Prashil,

I tried with the <SID>adm operating system user. But it does not work.

Do I have to create a user with same name in the UME and giving this user

administrator privileges?

Thanks for your help

Hi Karin,

First tell me whether is WAS is on your local system or remote system.

If it is on your local system, then you don't need to create a new user it must be already created in your OS, just check whether that user has the administrator rights or not.

If it is on remote server. Then please ask you WAS administrator to provide the password.

Hope this helps!!!!

Hi Karin,

Yes you are absolutely correct. OS is Operating System.

OS user and OS password are the user and password of the ur local system login.

The priviledges require to restart the server node are Administrator priviledges.

Please assign the OS user, you are trying to login, are having sufficient priviledges.

Hope this helps to solve your problem!!!
