Can you explain about Higher-level item category and item usage?
awaiting fr reply.........
hi,
Higher level influences the item category determined for a subitem like in free goods
sales doc type + item cat grp + usage + higher level item cat -
> item category.
OR + NORM + FREE + TAN -
> TANN
here because the higher levle item cat is TAN the sub item's item category is TANN.
Also in the same example above, usage for example is FREE used for free goods determination.
Pl reward if it helps.
Thanks

Importance of higher level item comes into picture when u have to enter the subitem to it.
EG. If u have to give some free goods for ur promotion activities then u assign this free goods to ur higher level item category.

ITEM CAT. HIGHER LVL - is item cat. of any item that is associated with the main item . eg; say if u r offering one yr service along witha product and if this sevice is to be shown in the sales order it will come with item cat.- wodd. so basically it identifies characterstics of lower lvl item .
Usage - is use of any item basically it does nto effect anything. say usage like text - this identifies that the item is jus an item on sheet of paper. in broader sense u can call service an text item(tho it is not) .
Pl. reward if it clarifies ur doubt.
