Hi experts,
I'm working with the SRM Bidding Engine. In the Find tab in the Carry out sourcing menu there are two bottons:
a) Add to work area
b) Assign to me
Could you please explain what is the difference between these two options?
Thanks in advanced!!!
Mar
Hi Mar,
Add to work area:
Moves the SC into the work area for working onit, like creating a PO etc.
as well blocks it from usage thru other persons.
Assign to me:
Each SC is assigned to a Purchasing Group within a Purchasing Organization.
Via "assign to me" the Purchasing Group is switched to the Purchasing Group of
the Users. It only works within one Purchasing Organization. Useful for workload
balancing.
Thanks,
Claudia

Hi Claudia,
Thanks for replying so quickly. But I still don't have a clear picture of both options. As per you answer I understood that the main difference between both options is that if a buyer process a SC that belongs to another purchasing group using "add to work area" the purchasing group of the PO doesn't change.
But if the buyer processes the SC using "assign to me" the purchase group of the SC will change to the buyers one (taking into account that the buyers purchasing group belongs to the purchasing organisation as the original SC purchasing group).
Thanks again!
Mar
Hi Mar,
both buttons support two different things:
Add to work area needs to be pushed by everybody who wants to process a SC.
Everybody with the authorizations can put a visibile SC into his/her work area
and process the shopping cart; with the information given within the SC, like the
Purchasing Group.
Assign to me only changes the Purchasing Group (new screen follows), but does
not move the SC into the workarea for processing. It is only an assignment change,
to enable the assignment to a different purchaser and therefore enable the
SC to be visible to that purchaser.
Thanks,
Claudia
Hello Mar,
Whatever you said in your earlier response about "Add to work area" and "Assign to me" is absolutely correct. Just want to add: Once you have done "Assign to me", you will become the buyer henceforth in the purchasing document and all further notifications, email etc if configured will come to you."Assign to me" is basically you are taking complete ownership henceforth for this purchasing doc as buyer.
Regards,
Shiv
