Portal and XI installation on same machine

I have XI 3.0 installed on a server. I want to install Portal 6.0 on the same machine. Has anybody done this before successfully? Are there any check points to be considered before doing this?

I have seen one such implementation which had both XI and EP on the same server ( one of our Testing boxes for a client ).

Though I dont know the installtion tips, I do know that it worked fine without any issues.
