Should Transport folder be backedup daily ?

Hi all,

In our R3 system regular daily online backup is taken. Apart from that Monthly offline is also taken.

Since transport folder is a regular OS folder not a part of database, daily online backup is taken only for the database. This folder is not backed up daily.

Whether this folder to be backed up or not ?

Is there any guideline for backup of Transport folder ?

Hi

It is better to backup the trans direcotory but it may not be very critical.

It is always better to keep a copy of all the transports in your local machine.

A crash of the OS does not usually occur.

Hi Naba,

Yes,It is advisable to have the backup of usr/sap/trans dir on daily basis. It will be useful to recover the system completely during any system crash.

HI Vinodh,

It is a good practice if we backup our Trans directory regularly.Although it is not not that critical .Because even if you loose some data or cofiles relative to a particular transport request they can be regenerated by re-importing the requests.
