Good afternoon,
I am restoring a SAP instance on a restore server.
It is an ECC 6.07 with nuc 7.50 kernel.
I have restored the DB and the SAP directories.
When I run startsap, it complains with:
###
15:57:17 /usr/sap/XXX/SYS/exe/run/sapcontrol -prot NI_HTTP -nr 00 -function Start
05.10.2016 15:57:17
Start
FAIL: sapstart not found
-------------------------------------------
15:57:27 startup of Instance failed
###
startsap is in my sidadm path:
which sapstart
/usr/sap/XXX/SYS/exe/nuc/linuxx86_64/sapstart
For sure I have missed something. 🙂
Could you please tell me how I can diagnose my problem?
Thanks in advance for your answers.
Hello Benoit,
Are you still running ECC EHP7 on non unicode kernel ?
Login to OS with SIDADM and check if environment variable's pointing to right kernel directory.

Hello,
I have tried what is described in the wiki: FAIL: sapstart not found - Application Server Infrastructure - SCN Wiki
But the sappfpar pf=/sapmnt/XXX/profile/DEV_DVEBMGS00_xxx DIR_EXECUTABLE
returns nothing.
Neither on the working server and the backup server.

Can you run R3trans -d or tp -version from any location by using SIDADM user.
This will give some hint if kernel binary are getting call or not.

$ R3trans -d
This is R3trans version 6.25 (release 745 - 27.11.15 - 20:15:12).
non-unicode version
R3trans finished (0000).
-version is not a correct option 🙂
$ tp -v
This is tp version 380.40.04 (release 745)

Hi Benoit,
Whether your system is unicode or non unicode?
If system is unicode, I think your are using NUC kernel.Check the kernel.
Required startup logs in work directory to know the exact issue.

There is no more log in work directory.
The error is returned by:
/usr/sap/XXX/SYS/exe/run/sapcontrol -prot NI_HTTP -nr 00 -function Start
