Hi Jamil,

But the resolution which specified in the SAP Note is:

Resolution

  • Correcting the space shortage in the tempdb filesystem will resolve these errors.
  • To avoid sddone and ASE 823 errors under these circumstances either:
    • Don't remove and recreate the tempdb filesystem device at the OS level
    • Don't create the ASE device with the SKIP_ALLOC option to the DISK INIT command

      or:
    • Make certain there is always enough space on the OS filesystem involved.

Can you clarify the below things:

1. You got any 1105 Space shortage issues in the tempdb ?

2. Are you hitting Error 823 ?

3. Is the device removed from File system or File system memory got full ?

Thans Dear Kiran,

Let me share you whole problem:

Its Sybase ASE 15.7 on SUSE Linux 12.

Actually i am facing two different issues:

1) I am unable to Backup Sybase with Dump database command. I/O Write error.

2) when our abaper try to activate TABLE EKKO his session disconnected with error 823 in      sm21 and st22 logs. (This issue is critical for me, want to solve this first)

I am attaching all logs and screenshot of problem to you: See below screenshots of Error Logs and SYBASE DEV.log from SYBASE folder

   SE14>EKKO>Activate

  SM21

ST22

/usr/sap/DEV/sybase/DEV.log (error point)

same error that is defined in SAPnote 1955596

After finding the solution in SAPnote 1955596

i have try to extend tempdb and resetart DB as mentioned in below screenshot:

No luck so far Please help i am new to SYBASE.

Also attaching tail of DEV.log as well.

Hello Qazi,

From logs the database 'saptools' is full. Can you resize "saptools" with the same command and see if your issue resolves.

So,

use master

go

If require resize disk,

disk resize name='<name>',size='1024m'

go

alter database saptools ON <name>='1024m'

go

Best Regards,

Amarnath

HI Jamil,

Login to isql:

$isql -S<SID> -Usapsa -X

1> use master

2> go

1> disk init name = '<device_name>' , physname = '<path/filename>' , size = '<size in MB>M'

2> go

1> alter database <DB_name> on <device_name>= <size>

2> go

or

if you want to use the existing image run the "disk resize"

1> use master

2> go

1> disk resize name = "<device_name>", size = "1024M"

2> go

1> alter database <DB_name> on <device_name>= <size>

2> go
