Match code for open part number

Hi,

How do we create a match code for a sales order for open part number (material).

I was trying to look online but couldn't find much details. Does it need to be done by material master data team to create the match code ?

Sorry for the miscommunication....actually our  acquired other firm and they uses SAP as well.

what we are looking in the implementation with further discussion .

If user creating sales order with open part number (acquired firm material) known as OPN and in that sales order we would like to see MMID for our firm. The reason why because user should not go looking for material classes or by several materials.we looking for a solution where SAP can return the corresponding material number.

How it can be achieve at sales order level?
