Error during SDM startup - (Error: There is no control instance running)

Hi All,

I am upgrading to solution manager and installing Java-addin. During the install activity, at phase "Install Software Units", the process errors out with the following message:

May 4, 2007 2:00:59 PM Error: An error occured while storing the cluster instances.

May 4, 2007 2:00:59 PM Error: There is no control instance running in the cluster returned by MessageServer [MS host: p570dr1lp2; MS port: 3905].

The instances are:

Name:JM_T1178244059126_1_p570dr1lp2

Host:p570dr1lp2

State:5

HostAddress:10.220.1.196

Please check if there are running cluster instances.

SDM could not start the J2EE cluster on the host p570dr1lp2! The online deployment is terminated.

There is no clutser control instance running on host p570dr1lp2 which is described in SecureStorage .

Hi Nisch,

Please check if the system is up and running. This might be the reason the phase is failing. You can check the status using the following command with <sid>adm

jcmon pf=..\usr\sap\..\SYS\profile\DVE..

Try starting the system and then the phase should go through.

Thanks for your reply.

I tried using jcmon, I get the following error message when I try to to go to Cluster Administration Menu:

Can't connect to message server (rc = -100)

please assist.

It seems your message server is not running. Ensure it is up and running.

Hi Mantosh,

The message server has started successfully this time. dev_ms is clean without any errors.

I had changed message server port (ms/http_port), will this affect SDM startup? I do not find any java engine running, only SCS starts up.
