Unique HU number blocks goods issue of vendor consignment stock?

Dear all

I'm facing a strange problem here:

as soon as we activate the flag "Set Unique Number Assignment for HU Identification" (set to X) in the customizing, the system doesn't follow the stock determination rule used in a delivery anymore. This rule says that vendor consignment stock should be consumed at first - there's plenty of stock, but the goods issue cannot be posted. If we transfer stock from vendor consignment to own stock (411K), the goods issue is OK.

If we remove the flag in the customizing, everything works again as expected.

Honestly I don't see how the two points- unique HU number and stock determination - are linked. Does anybody have a logical explanation for that?

puh...so the activation of this flag "unique number assignment" seems to let SAP think the big HUM is now active. Wow, what a side effect
