Network Alert/Notification

Hi Expert,

I have some query on the network functions.

Scenarios as per below:

Network user need to have authorization in C_PROJ_TCD, 0201,V (Change) due to their jobs is to change the network status in CJ20N.

WBS user is only in charge of open and close WBS.

Once the WBS is in CLSD status then Network user need to request WBS user to re-open the WBS if there is a request to re-open the network.

This should be the process.

Currently in SAP, the system allow the Network user to change the network status even though the WBS is closed. There are no control.

WBS user is not aware of the changes done by Network user.

Due to Network user and WBS user is from 2 different team and in order to aware each party of the changes then the network user need to inform the WBS user via email that they need to re-open the network so pls re-open the WBS if we want to have the control.

This is one of the manual options.

Another options is to request WBS user to check the report S_ALR_87015069 and S_ALR_87015070 daily if they noticed that the network header/activity had changes the status.

This is another options of monitoring job.

Also, due to the existing network header/activity was not activated in Tcode: OPUV to tick the change log/documetns. As such, WBS user is unable to know which network user had actually update the network. We understand that the OPUV will only be reflected for the new network once apply. Existing network wont have change log status.

Would like to check with you all if there are any others better options so that they are aware that the network was updated?

I tried to check if there are any notification or alert function for this but there are not any.

If you have come across similar scenarios do share your experience with me. Appreciate.

Thanks a lot!

Best regards,

CJ

Hi CJ,

If you want to formalize the communication process between departments it can be done with Notifications.

They are not just a PM functionality, but absolutely cross-functional.  It is like a ticket or request for action, that has own status, deadline, etc.  You can report on them in the InfoSystem.

In PS they are called Claims, but used for specific purpose.  At the same time they can be used virtually for any purpose.

Hi Paulo,

Thanks for your advice.

I will try to use claim and test for it.

Thanks.

Hi CJ,

Claims in SAP are designed for cost planning change management, they are cost planning change documents.

You do not need "claims" the way they are designed, you need your own notification type to formalize communication.

To give an example, imagine Operations department is requesting Finance to create a new WBS, allocate a budget, and Release a WBS, that request can be formalized as notification document.

Or requesting Finance to supplement the budget for WBS, another type of notification.

Paulo
