Hello Folks,
When uploading the Inventory before Go-Live in general do we upload the stock in the Interim storage type such as 901, 902 .. etc. OR is it advisable to have NO stock in any of the Interim storage types at the Go live.
Thanks,
AK

Hi,
Inventory upload step in to SAP at the time of Go-Live.
1.First take inventory dump bin wise as per legacy system.
2. Upload stock first at IM level (SLOC) using movement type 561 base on system configuration WM stock move to 998 storage type and bin code.
3. Move stock from 998 storage type to physical storage type and bin code.
4. Check inventory upload status.
Upload stock in interim storage type 901 & 902 if you are creating PO and then do the GR in system then stock should move in to 901 and 901 interim storage type.
Normally at the time of go-live no inventory value should be not reflect in interim storage type.

Hi A K,
It is as simple process to upload the stock in WM.
Once you create stock in SLOC using 561 mvt type then WM shows stock in 998 interim storage type.
After that you need to create Transfer Order wrt material document using LT06 transaction or you can also create Transfer order wrt Transfer requirement number using LT04 transaction.
For both process you can use LSMW process which is easy to used mass data processing.
Confirm once issue is resolved.
Thanks
Vinayak

What is your go-live process going to be?
Any way you look at it, how are you planning to avoid the interim storage types? And, I am not sure how you are going to get stock in 901/902 - are you planning to purchase or produce stock for go-live? Is this a completely new facility with new stock? Or did you re-map movement and storage type relationships in your setup.
At the end of your go-live cutover and before you hand over to productive use, it would be preferable to have nothing in your interim storage type, if not get a snap-shot of the interim bins and make sure you understand why & where the numbers came from before handing the system over to users. You can always take your time fixing the problem numbers if you know what the status was at handover.

Say good bye to theory and focus just on reality - after your load the stock in SAP shall show where it is physically (which is usually a bin in WM) - it is just this and nothing else.
Does your legacy system know about 901 902 etc? Only if legacy is SAP, otherwise certainly not.
Did you map the legacy warehouse layout to your WM layout? If yes then you should already know the answer, you should know if you mapped physical bins to your storage type 901, you should know if you created those bins in that storage type.
