Object level security approach revisit - SAP 4.1 sp6

Hi Friends

I have a universe where we have set security(ols_controlled) on some patient related information.

The way it works here is, these objects are restricted by default to every user unless these end users specifically ask for access and it goes through the formal approval process etc.

But the issue with this approach is that those people who do have access run the reports fine but when it comes to sharing this report, the person who refreshes this report(who does not have access to these objects) gets permission errors.

Obviously these people do need to see this patient level info but just at the report level.

We don't want them to be running random queries on universe if I provide them access to these restricted objects...

Is there a way they could see these objects only at the report level and not at the universe level?

cheers

Hi Buddy,

You're trying to do few things here, may be handling each of them differently.

To answer the question (from your last sentence), yes, after giving them permissions on the objects (separately), you'll have to update the custom Access Level (if you've used that to give permissions, or else you'll have to create a custom access level), right click on it (custom access level), select Included Rights ->  Add or Remove Rights -> System (under Rights collection) -> Universe -> un-check the first privilege "Create and Edit Queries Based on Universe". Do the same thing for Universe (information design tool) -> un-check the "Create and Edit Queries Based on Universe".

Thanks,
