Integration Builder: Show in XML Format option for objects

Former Member

Hello everyone,

Just want to ask a simple question. In PI 7.4 > Integration Builder, objects have a "Show in XML Format" option. After clicking, it shows 2 tabs "Read XML" and "Write XML". The buttons below are just "Save XML" and "Close".

Question:

1. What are Read XML and Write XML for? They don't seem to export the XML file.

2. Can I edit externally and import a configuration object as an XML file (like the below structure)?

Thank you in advance.

Regards,

Nard

I figured we can also use WSNavigator. No need to import objects into ESR.

Hi Bernard,

  • You can create or read the objects using directory API.
  • When you read the ICO using web service or directory API, the XML look like read XML
  • When you write the ICO using web service or directory API, the XML look like write XML.
  • Same you can save the XML and use it in SOAP UI when you read or write the ICO.

Thanks Praveen. Appreciate your response.

Looks like I really need to ask our BASIS team to import that Integration Directory API into ESR.

I was looking into using the default setup we have. Anyways, thanks again.

I responded based on your question (what are the read XML and write XML), i explained about their purpose because you did not explain about your requirement.
