How to import flat files into Information Steward

Hi everyone,

I am trying to import flat files into Information Steward.

These are mostly csv. files, excel files and txt files.

Can you please guide me through this process and steps.

Not sure if i have to import the files into Data Services and then import them into Information Steward.

Hi sandeep,

You need to create file connection in CMC by providing the file path. Then login to IS, go to DataInsight and follow the below steps-

1. Go to File format, click New, select file format.

2. Give file format name and description, upload the sample file, where schema is exactly matching to your source file (flat file) or you can upload the flat file directly.

3. Select the Delimiter whether your file is separated by tab or space or comma etc..

4. Select first row contains field names, then propose schema.

5. Save it and close it

6. Go to Workspace home, add files by selecting the file connection and file format

7. Then add files to Project.
