how to avoid conflicts while transporting a role

Former Member

Hello,

Hope you people are having a great day!!

How to find out if there are any conflicts while transporting a particular role.

If a person A is transporting a particular role, and also his associate B has  made some changes to the role. And assuming person B transports the role before,  all the changes made by A will be overwritten.

How do we avoid this.

Thanks,

Priyanki

Priyanki,

This is user training issue. Whenever a role is updated, user should be adding brief description to the Description tab in PFCG. So next time same role is to be changed, user can compare the description tab in Dev and QA/Prd to ensure that all previous changes are in target system thus avoiding overwriting the previous changes which are still in transport but not in target system. In addition to this Last Changed on/by date & time stamp can also compared for the same purpose.

You can also build a report based in table E071 (or check the table) to see if there are any transports which have not made it to PRD. and there by avoiding to change the roles for which transports are still in process.

Just don't release the which you have included in the TR and it will show locked to the other user when he will be including it in a TR
