Downgrade Oracle version

Hi everybody,

I need to copy the database from production in Oracle 11.2.0.4 to a test system in 12.1.0.2. In test I also have the FS 11204. To do that, would it be enough to change the environment variables in test from 121 to 11204 and then to make a relink?

The OS is HP

Regards.

Hi,

If you have a complete 11204 software installed, then change environment variables is possible to downgrade software version.

However if there is DATABASE on the software, you will not open the database any more. The general steps would be export from higher version, then import to the lower version.

Best regards,

James

Hi James,

I've finally changed the variables of oracle user pointing now to 11204 (The FS really exists with the full software) and then I made a relink.

I deleted the old database (in 121) and now I'm retrieving a backup from the production system in 11204. Do you think it'll work?

Hi ,

It the backup was taken on 11204, and the patch level is NOT bigger than current 11204, then it should work.

Best regards,
James

Hi James, the restore ended properly and Oracle and SAP are now running good.

Thanks for your time.
