SUM SP17 not showing JAVA status during upgrade

Hi experts,

we are facing issue during upgrade of dual-stack based system.

SUM tool ( latest version available SP17 ) is stuck at following phase :

58 % GETSYNC_PREUP_FINI_R2

and this is in the logs :

Checking for syncpoint PREUPTIME=FINISHED in

Java has status "", we'll wait and check every 20 second(s).

Java has status "", wait another 5 minutes before logging...

Java has status "", wait another 5 minutes before logging...

I already reviewed http://scn.sap.com/thread/183754 and ABAP is waiting for JAVA to take action.

However, JAVA was was waiting for ABAP before at 70 %, but now there is only one grayed button ( see screenshot), SUM does not show anything.

JAVA should be up and running now :

$ sapcontrol -nr 00 -function GetProcessList

GetProcessList

OK

name, description, dispstatus, textstatus, starttime, elapsedtime, pid

msg_server, MessageServer, GREEN, Running, 2016 09 13 11:29:39, 0:10:17, 9769

disp+work, Dispatcher, GREEN, Running, Message Server connection ok, Dialog Queue time: 0.00 sec, AS Java: All processes running, 2016 09 13 11:29:39, 0:10:17, 9770

igswd_mt, IGS Watchdog, GREEN, Running, 2016 09 13 11:29:39, 0:10:17, 9771

So we are stuck and  unable to get SUM running again.....did you experienced such behaviour before?

System is based on SLES 11 and ASE 15.7 SP131

I already checked https://launchpad.support.sap.com/#/notes/0001401712 but none of the scenarios apply to our case.

Thank you for any advise,

Jan

Hello Jan,

Have you checked the J2EE trace and tmp directory to see if any deployment is in progress on the J2EE side ?

Dear Amerjit,

No deployement is running. ABAP is waiting for status entry to be created by JAVA in SYNC.DAT. but nothing happens.

Hello Jan,

you should check on the SAP official documentation if the upgrade a dual stack system is supported in your particular scenario.

Hi ,

Could we know what is the SAP Product you were trying to upgrade? Could you also try restarting the SAPhostcntrl service & also make sure the required space is also available?

Thanks,

Kaushik
