SMD agent version for NW 731/NW 740

Hi Experts,

Please tell me the suitable SMD agent to use with NW 731 and 740 version systems.

The current SMD version is  7.10.11.0.20140213041704. Is this sufficient or SMD should be reinstalled..if so what agent version will suit...

kernel version of NW 731 is 722_EXT_REL and for the  NW 740 , kernel is 742_REL.

I will appreciate all your help and guidance...

Hi Daniel,

The existing SMD Agent is good enough to serve the purpose.

Have a look at

Diagnostics Agents - SAP Solution Manager Setup - SCN Wiki

In between, do you have any issue with SMD agent or data being reported to Solman or anything else?

If not then why change/upgrade?

Thanks for the note.

Do you want to say deploying LMService on solution manager automatically update the SMD agents of connecting managed systems.

If we face any issue with the connection set up with  managed systems from solution manager ...then how the SMD agent can get updated..

What are all pre-requisites for SMD agents update from solution manager..

Hi Daniel,

THe statement from the note is self explanatory

Therefore the version of the Diagnostics Agent is the same as the version and patch level of the software component: LM-Service deployed on the Solution Manager system

The Diagnostic Agent (agelet) updates come with the Java stack component LMService.

There are no specific prerequisites...

To deploy the LMService

1. Enable maintenance mode
   1. Log in to Solution Manager
   2. Navigate to SAP Solution Manager: Configuration
   3. Click the "Solution Manager Administration" link
   4. Click on "Infrastructure"
   5. Click the "Framework" button and choose"Agent framework"
   6. Click the "Agent Admin" button" and choose "All Agents"
   7. On the Agents tab switch the "Maintenance Mode" to "On"
2. Upload LMService Pack --> JSPM
   Check the SAP Note Note 1589249 - How to import a SAP JVM patch into an AS Java using JSPM for more information regarding patching with JSPM
3. Disable the Maintenance mode (Check step 1)
4. Wait for Agents to re-connect
5. Run Upgrader

Optional

1. Run Managing System setup wizard
2. Run Managed Systems setup wizard
3. Run SMD self-check
