Hi all!
I'm trying to install EasyDMS on my Windows 10 machine. First I install EasyDMS v71, which has known bug in windows 10. The SAP Easy Document Management icon in windows explorer and on desktop is showing OK.
After that I install latest upgrade for v71 - EasyDMS71SP06P_2-20006126. At the end of installation the desktop icon for starting EasyDMS disappears suddenly and can't start EasyDMS program.
The same is happening when I try to reinstall with previous patch - EasyDMS71SP06_0-20006126.
Please advice.
Rgds,
Viliam

Hi all,
at the moment we are preparing an update to EasyDM 7.1.6.2 Non-Unicode via software distribution .
Currently we are facing the same problem! During installation of the update the icon gets lost.
Registry seems intact, windows options are set like before (show hidden folders etc.), but no icon or "virtual harddrive" in the windows explorer.
I think it's not a Windows 10-problem, because we are using Windows 7 at the moment.
First I thought it's a 64-bit-issue, but last week a collegue of mine installed the upgrade and it worked?!? 64-bit as well, but he upgraded from an much elder EasyDM version than the other seats, we tried before.
It's quiet mysterious and a no-go for our update-project, which puts up pressure I don't need at all.
Any suggestions?
BR,
André

Could have started a new discussion thread for your matter. Anyways if like my above screen-shot reply your file system has no hidden folders or files, Then I believe that you already know for some of the Windows Security Updates this matter has become one of most faced issues recently by many users. Can follow my replies & the discussions in one of our friends as given below,
Hope all these helps & you can be able to get rid of your issue or else please open a new discussion thread on this & would really love to help you with your SAP issues.
Thanks,
Kaushik
Why to start a new discussion thread if it's the same issue - missing easydms icon at the end of the upgrade to the latest version?
I tried to uninstall "Security Update for Microsoft Windows (KB3163018)", it's on my update list but can't find it on uninstall list. It is a part of some bigger windows update I guess.
rgds,
Viliam
I asked for new thread because I hope you have gone through
He might have searched in other threads and would have found the solution for that. Anyways before commenting here, did you also look into the Threads that I mentioned in the previous reply? Mr. Mike in there, also proposed a solution for that matter. See here we are available to help you issues if it is regarding SAP only. We are not windows Administrators although we know some common troubleshooting on windows too. Hope for Windows matters, you can take help from your OS Team. If I were you, then I would have taken out time to concentrate on my issue only rather than focusing on what other people are engaging into. Concentrating on your matter here, is your DMS invisible or its solved? See as far as I have seen, I also do have EasyDMS running in my company. So as my concern is that it is not an issue with SAP or SAP use/install process. You need to invest some time on your issue & then only you might be able to go to the root of the cause instead of investing in others matters engaging. We can not assure or issue any solution on OS troubleshooting, Better with your OS team, can take the matter to Windows Forum if you feel can not get help for your OS with your given resources.
Thanks,
Kaushik
Ok, so just out of curiosity, is it possible in a fresh Windows 10, you install a lower version of EasyDMS setup & ontop of that you install the new EasyDMS setup? Wanted to see the older version comes here properly or not? From your OS team-side, Is it possible to get a .DLL files repairer software on that of your system to point out & correct the broken .DLLs?
Hi Kaushik,
thank you for your help.
I checked the security update that is mentioned in your post, but on the workstations it isn't installed at all.
I do agree with Villiam. I think my thread fits quiet well, because the effect is just the same. The fact, that it happens with different OS versions shows, that it has nothing to do with windows, but is an issue with the latest EasyDM setup.

André
Ok then, . So you are also trying to say that you have also tried all the options as our friend here. So, just out of curiosity, did you tried or skipped the suggested process as Mr. Mike informed. Or did any of you come by the process mentioned in the below link,

Thanks,
Kaushik
Hi Viliam,
Could you please check if the flag "Display all folders" is set in the Windows Explorer. Therefore just open the explorer and then display the context menu on the left hand side. Here you should find the "Display all folders" settings which need to be set.
If this does not help or if the flag is already set, then please uninstall EasyDMS once again. Then reboot your PC and afterwards start the installation once again by using the option "Run as administrator" for file SapEasyDmsSetup.exe
Best regards,
Christoph

Hi Viliam,
have you tried to uninstall EasyDMS completely again, then reboot. Now the icon should be gone. If necessary you can also remove the EasyDMS registry keys at
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\SAP\EasyDMS
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SAP\EasyDMS
Then install EasyDMS once again from scratch.
Best regards,
Christoph
could you check in services.msc any services already installed regarding EasyDMS? I would like to take you through some req & Setting mentioned in
How to Implement EASY DMS | SCN
Thanks,
Kaushik
you mean to say after installation also no file regarding EasyDMS in C:\Program files also & in that of your system, the options are also set like this below,
If these above options are set like this & still you are not able to see that in installed services list, then I have a doubt that there is the issue only in that Windows 10 copy. In the Search Tab, then put a .(dot sysmbol) and then proceed search, then it would show definitely if installed. Hope the installation completed successfully, it did not do show a roll-back view for that.
Also my friends, in the below link, posted an update regarding Windows 10
