SAP LSO: Content Player alternative "Twine"

Hello LSO experts,

we are just preparing the upgrade from SAP Trainingsmanagement to SAP Learning Solution.

In this context we discuss the system landscape with our IT basis team.

They are concerned regarding the necessary JAVA plug-in. This could be a security lack.

What do you think about this issue? Does this discussion sounds familiar to you? How do you handle this?

Do you may be use alternative content player within the SAP Learning Solution like Twine

Many thanks for your feedback in advance.

Hi Thorsten,

regarding the java applet: there is an option in the lso customizing to use a javascript implementation of the content player api. From that perspective there should not be a need for an alternative content player. You can find it in the img at:

- Training and Event Management

     - SAP Learning Solution

          - Learning Portal

               - Content Player

                    - Set Up Display Options

                         - CPCFG    JSAPI

Regarding twine. There can be other reasons for a tool like twine like support for additional content formats to SCORM e.g. tin can. We are not using it, but do evaluate it every now and then.

Cheers

Michael

I would highly recommend implementing Twine. We implemented it last year and are very happy with the results. It is very consistent with the SCORM cloud standards. We had SAP content player for more than 5 years and constantly ran into issues. Support for SAP content player in non-existent. On the other hand Twine support from HC Labs is defintely much better and they know their stuff. Publishing content was a much easier experience in Twine and our content developers defintely appreciated it. End of the day, it's good to have a player where the content would work when it has been tested in cloud. With SAP content player it was always a hit or miss.
