Hello Friends,
We are in SAP ECC6.0(EHP4 FOR SAP ERP 6.0 / NW7.01 ) and now we want upgrade it to EHP7.
What is the approximate time to complete EHP7 upgrade?
Environment:
Windows, Oracle and DB Size = 300 GB.
As we are in planning phase, It will help us to start the preparation.
Kindly Help.
Regards,
Farkath C
Hi Farkath,
I guess the best way to find this out is to have an upgrade run on a system. Create a replica of production and perform EHP upgrade.
The time required for upgrade depends on many things like..
DB size.
Hardware i.e. RAM, CPU.
Components being upgraded.
Level they are going to be upgraded.
There cannot be a guaranteed timeline, we estimate it by performing mock runs on system build using production data.

You can minimize your downtime by using downtime minimized features of SUM.
As well you can utilized Incremental Table Converison (ICNV) if you are under time constraint.
Your system will be unavailable only during down time, during rest of the phases system will be available for normal usage.
Go through SUM Upgrade guide for ABAP and set Oracle parameters as indicated in guide.
Thanks,
Hardeep

Bear in mind that you need to have a supported OS and DB to update the system to EHP7. As the system you want to update is on EHP4 you need to first check if the source system is running on older release of OS/DB. If yes then you need to do a system copy to a another system with supported version of OS/DB. Check PAM for the supported version of OS/DB for EHP7 installation. The update to EHP7 depends on many factors like the hardware configuration, the number of components getting updated, etc. A full week is more than enough to complete EHP7 update on one system. The number of hours mentioned in the above answer is way exaggerated unless you run into some issues wherein you need the help of SAP support.

Hi,
In almost similar case (Upgrade ECC6 EHP6) here are different phases and how long:
1/ Preparation SUM -> 5 hours
2/ Upgrade Uptime -> 65 hours
3/ Upgrade Downtime -> 45 hours
4/ Post-Upgrade -> 15 hours
5/ Check by customer -> 5 hours
Total: 125 hours!
Good luck!
