Problem removing cancelled messages from database

Dear Experts,

I need some suggestion regarding the removal of cancelled messages from database in PI.

Below is the configuration in SXMB_ADM.

I have not configured interfaces for archiving. So the messages will be marked for deletion.

Now, the problem is that cancelled messages are not directly deleted, they must be archived first.

So,how to delete these cancelled messages without defining Interfaces for archiving.

I am working on SAP PI 7.4 dual stack.

Thanks,

Rashid Eqbal

Hi Rashid,

is this a one time maintenance, meaning you want to remove a bulk of old messages? Or do you want a permanent solution, so that all future messages don't have to be archived?

As already said, the latter is not possible in production systems...

If it's a one time thing, there is a very dirty way if you want to skip archiving effort, but it's risky and not supported by SAP.

You could change the interface action (ITFACTION) in table SXMSPMAST from ARCH to DEL for all messages you want to be deleted (say, all manually canceled messages). That way, the normal delete jobs will affect them after the retention period has expired.

But messing around with tables directly should be done very carefully, if at all.

Thomas

Hi Raghu,

It seems that we do not have any option except for going to the archive mode.

Thanks,
