Changing the BOM quantity by reference characteristics

Hello Experts,

Client is already on sap but the problem is related to consumption of a raw material which varies according to availability on stock of material.

In a business narrative, when Raw material(A) are stocked at 40 mm diameter, 42 mm diameter and 46m diameter.

Whichever characteristic thickness of raw material IS present, that is consumed at time of CO11N.

Now, the main problem is consumption of scrap material which depends on consumption of raw material A.

Since there is no fix quantity consumption of A(raw material) so there is no fix consumption pattern of B( Scrap material).

Is there any way to map this requirement with VC using BOM quantity change with reference characteristics?

As we know the weigh of Header material( C), so if we can subtract the weight like A(A is known at time of confirmation)-C(Header material) weight=B( Scrap qty) can be calculated..

So, once we know which rm will be consumed, accordingly can be adjusted in production order.so that it is workable at time of CO11N.

My idea is to read and change the BOM qty with STPO-MENGE reference characteristics using Quant as a characteristic and MAAPV-BRGEW( Gross weight) for reading the weight of C header material at time of production order creation.

But main crux is how I will put the formula to calculate the SCrap qty in BOM.

So requirement is like

1) Read and change the Raw material B qty based on availability

2) Determination of Scrap qty based on RM used.

Any idea and help will be appreciated.

Have you consider calculating diameter  based upon characteristic selected. check below

Once you know the area or volume of consumable raw material , calculate the scrap based on that

and use reference characteristic to change values for both.

Thanks a lot for your reply. Yes, we know the raw material consumption formula.

It is calculated as below.

RM= Diameter(mm)*Diameter(mm)(mm)*Length(m)/162.2

Diameter may vary from 40, 42 and 46 MM

How syntax of Scap material calculation cane be written based on above RM calculation.

Shailesh,

It seems you need a solution from production confirmation as sales order creation and BOM component selection is already done. If at the time of sales order creation user specify value a specific Raw material can be selected and VC dependencies with formula may help you.

But in your case , BOM selection is done and during consumption your user will report RAW with what dia he may have consumed , moving it to PP forum may help you.

I am not sure if at the time of confirmation if we can input a value for batch characteristic for diameter then it can help you calculating consumption of scrap.
