multi country PSTN number range

Former Member

Hi together,

case:

A company owns multiple PSTN ranges in Europe. Calls from these numbers will be routed via MPLS to the SAP CCtr where these numbers terminates in IVRs.

The ranges itself are overlapping, e.g.100-299 in Germany and 100-299 in Belgium.

question:

How to define the PSTN number ranges?

Solutions I thought about:

S1: using E.164 Format - is this possible?

PSTN number range e.g.: +4912345100-+491235299;+3212345100-+3212345299

S2: manipulating the destination number by the SIP-Gateways by using a 3-digit location code.

replacement 1: +4912345# replaced by 100#

replacement 2: +3212345# replaced by 101#

resulting PSNT number range: 100100-100299;101100-101299

What is the recommended solution by SAP?

Is E.164 supported in SAP CCtr PSTN number range?

BR,

Robert

We also have multiple locations and same no at all locations and did it by manipulating last two digits at SIP gateway level at each location and hitting C Ctr IVR with respective IVR no.

Hello Robert,

(I just learned that editing two SCN post simultaneously is not a good idea.)

Yes, E.164 format is possible. I have used the full 13-digit number (without the +) as user extension. Implementation covered several countries with quite disparate number ranges, so this was the easiest way out. You can also manipulate the number ranges with a new prefix, as you suggest above.

I have seen an implementation where the customer wanted to use a 3- to 4-digit location prefix and 5-digit user extension. The wanted to avoid using 9-digit domestic numbers as extensions and claimed that 4+5 digits is easier to remember than 9-digits.

You are free to decide which way you want to implement it. Full E.164 numbers might seem a bit cumbersome to users in the beginning, but location specific prefixes might cause more administration work in the long run.

Yes, E.164 is fully supported in PSTN range. Y
