Personnel master record 42838736 does not exist

While creating a contract I am getting error message as mentioned in the title. When I check the Partner Functions at the Contract's Header level the employee no shown in the error message is not listed anywhere. It is somehow picking some random employee no and giving the error. Please suggest.

It seems like an user exit or badi implementation. I think you can try to check if it happens due a specific customer code.
