Dear All,
We are planning to upgrade our existing SAP ERP landscape from ECC6.0 EHP 7 to ECC6.0 EHP8.
Below is the current environment:
ERP : ECC6.0 EHP 7
OS : RHEL 6.7
DB : Oracle 11G (11.2.0.4)
Planned environment:ERP : ECC6.0 EHP 8
OS : RHEL 7.2
DB : Oracle 12C
I wanted to validate the steps which we are planning:
1. Upgrade Oracle from 11G to 12C in source system.
2. Install RHEL 7.2 in target machine.
3. Install Oracle 12C on target machine.
3. Perform homogeneous system copy and build target system.
4. Upgrade SAP ECC6.0 from EHP7 to EHP8.
Kindly let me know if the above steps are correct or should we follow different approach.
Thanks in advance,
Sujit
Hi Sujit,
From my understanding, they are fine.
If you use export/import method to switch to the new hardware and DB, then step 1 can be skipped.

Thank you Ning,
Skipping step 1 mentioned in my first post saved good amount of time and effort for us.
Best regards,
Sujit
P.S. Thank you S Sriram& Anurag Das for your valuable inputs.
Hi Sujit,
Yes, my onshore counterpart upgraded the OS/DB and then performed the System Copy and handed over to me for the Upgrade.
That is the approach we have taken.

Anurag

Hi Sujit,
Looks ok to me.
Actually in our EHP 8 upgrade we took the same approach of the homogeneous system copy.
