Install ESS in ECC 6.0 with the Java Engine, and without the EP

Hi,

we are triying to configure the ESS in a R3 landscape. ECC 6.0 after upgrade process from 4.6C version.

Before upgrade we have a ITS Server with the Employee Services, on ITS tecnology.

But in ECC 6.0 seems that ITS is not supported on ECC.

The Architecture is the next:

1 Server R3 only with a central ABAP instance

1 Installation of Rapid with the JAVA Engine connected with the R3 Instance.

For the moment

1) we can see that we can connect to the EP installed on Rapid Install Installation on the Portal infraestructure.

We need to know how to launch ESS URL without use the EP platform. It's is possible?.

Hello Jordi,

Yes its very well possible. I assume you have already deployed the ESS and XSS sca's on your WAS JAVA. The XSS provides us a Menu Page which makes it possible to launch ESS/MSS applications outside of portal.

This concept is the same as we use to have the Menu Page is ITS based ESS which we can run outside portal.

Following is the URL to launch the New ESS Menu Page outside portal-

http://<WAS Server>:<Port>/webdynpro/dispatcher/sap.com/pcui_gp~xssutils/XssMenuArea?sap.xss.menuhdr=SAPDEFAULT&sap.xss.menuargrp=SAPDEFAULTESS

Hope this solves your problem.

Shubham

Hi

ESS is a package you have to deploy onto your engine. It is actually reflected in ur portal as a seperate link.

ESS in ECC 6.0 is supported via the Portal; it's been rewritten in WebDynpro for Java, rather than relying on ITS.

Thanks,
