Question on Sizing and Architecture for Big Data scenario

Dear colleagues,

We have a customer who would like to monitor the Sales Orders to identify irregular fulfillment conditions and other events and it has been positioned SAP OPI as the most adequate tool.

They would like to monitor 3 months of Sales Order, and when we run the sizing required, those 3 months would represent 6Tb of data. Obviously, the cost of this would make the proposal inviable.

Then, my questions:

  1. What would be the proposed architecture when facing scenarios with such a massive data volume? Does all data need to be on HANA?
  2. Could we think of an architecture where the 3 months data is stored in a cheaper storage like ASE IQ, and pushed or read into HANA in smaller blocks, for SAP OPI to run the analysis?
  3. What would be the solution architecture for Big Data scenario?

Many thanks!!

Hello Salvador,

Just to answer your questions quick:

For 1 : Only the relevant fields that you wish to see in OPInt workspace

For 2 : For OPInt you need to have all the data in HANA. You can however archive the data you need using the blog :

For 3 : Archiving is one option.

Archana
