Upgrade: Poor performance in TABIM_UPG

Hi all,

We are trying to upgrade our SAP BW3.1 C system to BI7.0.

Platform is V5R4 :

SAPup version 7.00/2, build 24.082

Strategy used is Resource minimized:

All PTF from infopar from April applied.

Size of database is 350 GB.

R3Trans & Tp patch level: 177 for the source kernel.

The upgrade phase TABIM_UPG took three & half hours to finish. We check on OSS and looked for a few notes, esp :1017718 iSeries: Long runtime in upgrade phase TABIM_UPG but that is not relevant for us, as we are already on V5R4.

Is there anyway, we can speed up this process of Importing entries into control tables(phase TABIM_UPG )???

Hi Volker,

Thanks for the response. Asked coz' was wondering there may be a way to do it..like in V5R3 they built some indexes etc on ATAB...

But looks like we will have to go with that only.
