Material Revision level in SAP vs PLM

Hi team,

I am very new to handle the PLM issues. Please advice your valuable suggestion on the below issue.

  • Client PLM system allows to distinguish between a revision level on a material of for example, 1 and 01. When they try to create a revision level of 1 using the CC11 transaction code in SAP automatically changes 1 to 01.

  • Theyuse a bapi to enter 1 but then all the screens which use revision level eg. Purchase order screen, cannot find the 1 as they automatically look for a 01.

  • This makes the revision level between thier PLM system and business system out of alignment.

  • They need a way to replicate exactly our revision level in our PLM and in SAP by switching off the addition of a 0 in all screens that use revision level.

  • This issue only occurs for single digit numbers.

  • As per client, their external PLM allows a revision level of 1,2,3 etc why does SAP force  to use 01,02,03 etc.

  • As they are using external revision level in t-code OS54, SAP should allow them to use exactly the rev level as thier PLM uses.

  • With the current use of 01 in SAP they are out of sync of thousands of part numbers.

  • Customer need a way to switch off the leading zero for numerical revision levels so both PLM and SAP.

Theja

Hi Theja,

indeed Revision Level definiton for numerical Revision Levels automatically assigns a leading Zero in the Customizing even.

I would recommend that the customer calls the BAPI with a leading Zero. That should not be an issue for them. If Revision Level is 1 in their PLM System, Then they should just call the BAPI with 01.

Please also keep in mind that Revision Levels in SAP ERP are in general different from a PLM system Revision Level, which might even be assigned without Change Number.
