My partner was attending this self paced course - the final exam is closed at the moment.
Will there be another date when the exam can be taken?

Once a course is in self-paced mode, it is not possible to complete the weekly assignments or final exam. There are no plans at the moment to offer a re-run of this course but stay tuned to future announcements.
