Variant matching for multilevel VC item in sales order.

Hello All,

We have multilevel VC item PP01 in configurable profile. I am trying to  map variant material process. Business want if variant matches then variant should be replace with KMAT material.

I have done following setting and maintain master but didn't get success to replace variant material with KMAT material in sales order.

1) Created  X finish material (FERT) as material variant. Assigned Y KMAT material in basic data 2 and MRP view 3 as variant. entered all necessary characteristics.

2) Activate variant matching in item category TAC .

3) Configurable profile setting.  Process Plnd/Prod. order ,BOM explosion multilevel, Application PP01 .Setting Type matching on request and partial config as strategy.

I can see variant material in CU50 when I click on variant matching button but I am not able to get in sales order.

Variant material should be replace with VC material and then MTO scenario for variant production.

I am not sure how it will handle in case of multilevel configuration as we have configurable material as sub item when BOM explode.

Please let me know if I am missing something.

Vipin,

User start with by entering KMAT material in sales order and do assignment of characterstic values, if the values he selected matches with the material variant , KMAT will be replaced by material variant. This is how variant matching works. Seems you are trying it reverse way. to know more on standard functionality of variant matching , please check below link.

No I am following same, may be some misunderstanding from my above statement.

I have assigned KMAT material Y in Variant material X(FERT)  Basic data 2 and MRP 3.

I can see it in CU50 but not able get in sales order.

Only step I missed CS40 and Ca02.Do you think this may causing it.
