Why does 'localhost' work and IP 127.0.0.1 not?

Dear Responders,

When calling the transaction that requires a webUI (e.g. solman_setup), I need to change the called url from my alias to 'localhost'. Otherwise, the login is displayed, but not executed. After login in the webrowser creates a 'Error 404: missing page'. So I tried to vary the url and found out something strange: using the FQDN results in the same deadlock as the alias. And 127.0.0.1 too.

So, why does 'localhost' the alias of 127.0.0.1 work and the actual IP adress not?

And why I have to change the url anway?

We use http, https-switching is off, but swichting it on haven't improved the situation. The alias is registered in the httpurlloc table and is the same as the sapglobalhost and saplocalhost in our instance profile.

Best regards,

Jakob

Hello Yogesh,

the webUI is only working, if I remote-work on the server. I now want to run it on Clients. But if I run a webUI transaction, such as 'solman_setup', my webbrowser I throws an error message, saying, that my dns can not be resolved.

I do resolve the alias of my server with its IP address. As you can see here:

Now for your requested ICM setup of my SolMan 7.1 instance:

We also have a second system, running SolMan 7.2 perhaps this will work better?

Thanks a lot,

Jakob

Hello Jakob,

When you open this window keep this window open (with error) and try same transaction again and let me know what happens.

Try accessing solman_setup link direct as shown below (You might need to login)

http://host:port/sap/bc/webdynpro/sap/wd_sise_main_app?sap-language=EN
