CU&UC - Upgrade to 7.5 possible?

We're planning a CU&UC on our BW systems. Checking https://launchpad.support.sap.com/#/notes/928729/E I only find guides for upgrades 7.0x to 7.4, does anyone know if it's possible to go to 7.5?

And is it possible to change the hardware during the process? (We want to exchange our Windows 2008 servers with Windows 2012 servers.)

Hi Daniel,

CUUC is not supported for target release 750. Your system has to be Unicode before, because the DVD sources for the upgrade only have Unicode content.

So I would recommend below:

1.) Perform a normal Unicode Conversion (Single Codepage Conversion) using the guides of SAP note 1051576.  During the System Copy process with R3load which is mandatory for a Unicode Conversion you can install your target system on the new hardware and import the export dump on it.

2.) Finally you do a normal upgrade to BW 7.5

Thanks for your information, we will do as proposed. And if you upgrade to 7.4, could we change the hardware or is the Unicode repository created in shadow?

If you go to 7.4 you change the hardware during the System Copy, too.

Using a CUUC the steps are the following:

1.) Perform some Unicode preparation steps (source system, non-unicode, old hardware)

2.) Perform the Upgrade (soure system, non-unicode, old hardware)

Some of the Unicode steps which have to be performed manually during a Single Codepage Conversion are done by SUM. That's why the preparation is a little bit different.

3.) Do the final Unicode preparation activities (target system, non-unicode, old hardware)

4.) System Copy export (target system, non-unicode, old hardware)

5.) System Copy import (target system, unicode, new hardware)
