Hello Experts,
We are in situation where we have to move some oracle data files from one mount point(oracle/pp1/sapdate3) to another mount point(oracle/pp1/sapdate21) via brtools in our Primary R/3 Production server.
Since we have DR site also, what will happen at DR server when we will move data files at primary server?
Will data files move at DR site automatically or not?
We are using oracle 11g and currently primary and DR servers are in sync.
Please suggest.
Tarun

Hi,
If you are using data guard, i think this move will be reflected in your DR server (assume that the new mount point also exists in the DR server). You should ensure that the parameter "standby_file_management=AUTO". After the datafile move in the primary database server, do a "alter system switch logfile", to make sure that the log is shipped to the standby site and changes applied. You may have more information in the below link. Hope this will help you.

Hello Ganesan,
Thanks for reply.
At primary r/3 server, we have added many data files and resized many data files and same have been reflected on DR site automatically.
But moving data files at primary server from one mount point to another point we have not done yet so not sure about its implications on DR server.
Have you seen such case any where?
Tarun
Hi Tarun,
For adding and resizing, the procedure in URL in my previous post may help you. For moving (renaming) a datafile, you need do the same steps in Standby database too. You can refer the link below for some outline idea.
