Hi expert,
Could anyone tell me clearly, when should I use the AS2 adapter.
And what are the differences between AS2 and other adapters?
Looking forward for your response.
Best Regards,
Leo
Hi Leo,
from the Screenshot, it seems like you are using the Seeburger AS2-Adapter. However, the Seeburger AS2-Adapter is shipped with a documentation that explains the settings for sending and receiving data via AS2.
Usually, your client should have this documentation available.
The confioguration itself also differs based on the PI/PO-Version (Standard Config versus Integrated Configuration).
So it would be beneficial if you provide some additional information regarding the versions that you use
(PI/PO - Version , Adapter Version....)

Hi Leo,
AS2 Adapter works on HTTP protocol and picks the EDI messages coming from Internet. Others have already pointed to it.
You can also check the below link which shows the history of AS2

Hi Leo
1. Could anyone tell me clearly, when should I use the AS2 adapter.
when your going to connect with third parties systems(which has EDI format) through internet .
AS2 adapter will help you to convert EDI to EDI-XML and EDI-XML to EDI
EX:
Third party system------AS2 (EDI)----->SAP PO------IDOC--->ECC
EDI formats are
ANSI ASC X12
EDICOM,
TRADACOMS
HL7, ODETTE, TRADACOM,SWIFT etc.
And what are the differences between AS2 and other adapters?
AS2 adapter pick the EDI format files through the internet
SOAP adapter pick the WSDL/XML files through the internet

AS2 is a communication protocol, which is actually the same as the HTTP POST protocol, but with a few extra's thrown in. In particular, the AS2 proctool includes options around security (you get the option to sign/authenticate and encrypt/decrypt using digital certificates) and 'non-repudiation' - which means the sender receives an acknowledgement from the receiver, which acts as 'proof' of a successful transmission. This 'acknowledgement of receipt' message is refered to as a MDN .
Although AS2 is a format-independent transmission protocol, in practice it is usually used in conjunction with a formally defined EDI message format. Usually, this format is defined and published externally. EDICOM, EANCOM, ANSI X12, and TRADACOMS are good examples.
AS2 applications normally ship with additional tools for handling these message formats, i.e. the Seeburger BIC mapping tool.
