SAP PPMM 5.0 TO 6.01 Upgrade

Dear All,

We are planning to upgrade PPM 5.0 to 6.01, I need few information which will be helpful to make certain decisions. Please find below the clarifications,

Current system details :

1. ECC6, EHP5

2. NW 7.0 Ehp2

3. PPM is installed on separate instance.

4. PPM - PS,FICO,HR integration ECC.

Query :

1. Do we need to upgrade to EHP7 for ECC or we can use the existing EHP5 ?

I have checked the latest Installation master guide from service market place but at few places in document its confusing, so wanted to check from fellow consultant who have come across this scenario.

please just have a look at the list I provided above, case (1) and (6) are the cases for stand-alone installation.

Hi Florian,

Point #1 & 6 are standalone PPM6.01 i.e. without having SAP ERP at all, but we have got ECC6.0 only the instance of PPM6.01 is different. Please correct me if my understanding is wrong.

Hi,

if you have ERP and PPM installed on the different systems: case (1) and (6)
(as PPM is installed stand-alone on its own system. Integration between systems doesn't matter here)

If you have ERP and PPM installed on the same system: case (2) and (7)

Thanks for the inputs.

Yes PPM5.0 is installed on different system, however we have integration with ERP ECC6.0  PS,FICO&CATS. So in this scenario can we go ahead with case #1/6 i.e. upgrading just NW7.4/5 & using ERP EHP5 only without upgrading to EHP7 ERP.

Hi Aditya & Florian,

Thanks for the inputs, I also checked there is a ABAP add on component  CPRXRPM 610_740 to get this installed in PPM 6.01 we need EHP7 or EHP8 ERP6.

As stated earlier PPM5.0 is installed separate instance so still do we need to go for EHP7 ERP 6?

Hi Kumar,

Whenever upgrading, you can always check the compatibility at support.sap.com/pam.

If I understand your requirement correctly, check the following PAM for PPM 6.0 product version.

As you can see, you will have to upgrade the NetWeaver to 7.3 or 7.4; That means you are looking at ECC EHP5.
