alternative solution of ADS base on ABAP

Dear Experts

Considering server maintenance cost and other reason, we would like to find out alternative solution of ADS (Adobe Document Service), then we can shutdown this separate ADS server, our initial plan is to install dual-stack in one existing netweaver platform which is only installed with abap stack.

(this existing SAP server, the Netwerver version is lower than 7.4)

but recently i find one formal document from SAP telling since Netweaver 7.4 doesn't recommend dual-stack installation (java and abap), So anybody can advise on this?   does the ADS server(in case you are  using) also running in one separate java server other than ABAP?

Any other non-sap solution is also okie.

Loooooking forward to getting your expertise suggestion. any advise help is appreciated!!!!!!!!!

thanks

MR

This is not an EASY "one answer fits all". First off, you should be looking at what your exact output needs are....

static forms?

interactive forms?

high volume printing?

etc

Then you will have a better understanding of how much/little you use ADS and then can look for possible replacements in those areas.

Dear Solomon

Thanks for your information.

How about if my expect output is totally same with ADS?

Frankly we are  more keen on to migrate ADS to another server which is now base on ABAP.

in this case we can cut down this ADS java server.

thanks

Got'cha! Sadly....I know of no other alternative in your scenario. Even if using on an ABAP stack (ie. another server), the suggestion would still be to have it on its own independent server as high volume printing can be very taxing on the server (so not good to have anything else "living" there).
