Hello!
We would like to customize Oracle backup to Multiple Disks.
By default BRBACKUP command starts distribution of the files for backup among the volumes in equal parts (we can display it with option-o|-output dist).
Is it possible to customize distribution for 2 data volumes and use second disk only when first disk has no storage space?
Hi Ivan,
yes it is. Use two different .sap files in transaction BD13 (For example init<SID>.sap.vol1 and init<SID>.sap.vol1). Configure init<SID>.sap.vol1 for volume 1 and init<SID>.sap.vol2 for volume 2.
Plan the backup init<SID>.sap.vol1 at 10:00 and init<SID>.sap.vol2 at 10:05.
The backup with init<SID>.sap.vol1 starts at 10:00. If the backup starts without error the second backup init<SID>.sap.vol2 quits with error, because there can't be 2 backups at the same time. brbackup doesn't allow this.
If the first backup init<SID>.sap.vol1 quits with error because of leaking diskspace the second backup init<SID>.sap.vol2 is going to start.
Best regards
Willi Eimler
