Classify products with USML categories:

We have a requirement to classify ECCN and USML categories for products.

1. What is the best classification that can be used to setup USML categories?
2. Can I assign both ECCN and USML classifications to same legal regulation?

Hi Sri,

Long time back we had the similar requirement, after a lengthy of  discussion and simulations runs we had  decided to go with a single Legal regulation and it worked successfully,  other wise you will end up having classification   and license determination issues.

Hi Sri,

I am not sure about your requirement to confirm my solution is a right fit for you , since ECCN or USML structure is similar  therefore we have used single regulation for both of them and maintained the classifications accordingly, I remember using product grouping as an additional classification parameter to differentiate  ECCN and USML and also to influence licence determination.

If you are having multi use case (Same product needed classification of ITAR and EAR in very few cases )  then I am really not sure how this works.

We will not be having multi use. It is either ITAR or EAR.
