Hi,
I tried multiple times to find a guide how to install SAP GUI 740 under Ubuntu 16.04.
Haven't yet managed to get the GUI installed under Ubuntu 16.04.
Any hint is Welcome.
best regards
Alfons

It's not the first time I did such an installation on Ubuntu, so I'm used to use the correct Java version. But when I double click the .JAR file I get below error message.
The file '/home/snofla/Downloads/PlatinGUI740_8-20012039.JAR' is not marked as executable. If this was downloaded or copied from an untrusted source, it may be dangerous to run. For more details, read about the executable bit.

Finally I managed to get the installation fixed on Ubuntu 16.04.
Run following command from Terminal:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:webupd8team/java
sudo apt update
sudo apt install oracle-java8-installer
Then download . JAR package
1.) Right Mouse click
2.) TAB "Permissions"
3.) Set check "Run as program
4.) Double click .JAR package; installation is taking place
5.) Add system
Thanks guys for getting me on the road.
best regards
Alfons
Hello Alfons,
Have you downloaded SAPGUI for Java? And then tried to install it?
Note that you need to have installed the JavaFX package.
If you are facing any error during the installation, then copy/paste the same here.
Kind regards,
Cris
